Johannesburg Broadband Network Project
Project overview Together with private sector involvement, the City Municipal Broadband Network project aims to address the telecommunication needs of the City of Johannesburg, to provide affordable community access and to ensure that the tremendous socio-economic opportunities associated with broadband connectivity are realised.
Request for information It is the intent of the City, through this request for information (RFI), to invite submissions and responses from the market in a two-stage, competitive bidding process.The RFI is expected to be issued on Monday, 26 February 2007.
Briefing session for RFI
A compulsory briefing session will be held on 8 March 2007 at 10am at the South African National Museum of Military History, 22 Erlswold Way, Saxonwold, Johannesburg. A map to the venue will be posted on the website.
Request for proposal The RFP is the second stage in the JBNP. The first release of the RFP, to guide the demonstration networks, will be issued to shortlisted respondents on Monday, 03 December 2007.
The second release of the RFP, with all sections included, will be issued on Friday, 14 December.
Briefing Session for the RFP A compulsory briefing session for the RFP will be held on Wednesday, 16 January 2008 at the 16th Floor, Metropolitan Centre, Loveday Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg

Please note: no telephonic enquires will be entertained.To ensure appropriate responses are prepared for the briefing session, all interested parties are requested to submit questions via email by 4pm, two working days before the briefing session. All questions will be responded to at the briefing session and a written response will be published on the website. Further questions can be submitted electronically and written responses will be published on the website.Updated information related to the RFP process will also be made available on the website.
Tender Closing Broadband Network Tender will close at 10:30 on 31 March 2008 and tenders will be opened in public at 11:00
