2008-05-19: Imbali PDF Print E-mail

Imbali is right now in the middle of an intensive and exciting 12-day textile design training course, for a group of women from the Diepsloot community.

The group have been exploring designs, cloths and artworks from all over the African continent, from which they are deriving and adapting ideas for their own patterns.  The course has included research, workshops on cultural diversity and tolerance, and lots of drawing.

By the end of this course, not only will the group have learnt to design and create their own patterned textiles, in batik, fabric paint, and silkscreen printing   - but also they will have created their own garments from these fabrics, to model at the Diepsloot Africa Day celebration.
