Pikitup at workEVERY day you will spot a Pikitup truck stopping next to a kerb to empty a collection of black wheelie bins. This is just one of Pikitup’s fleet that covers the entire 1 625km² of the city, collecting and disposing of some 1,4 million tons of domestic waste generated every year.

As the City’s official waste management service provider, it is Pikitup’s responsibility to keep the city clean and hygienic.

Pikitup does this by collecting household refuse once a week from every formal dwelling in Johannesburg. It also offers commercial services to some 17 000 businesses and provides a waste removal service to all informal settlements in the city.

For more information about Pikitup, visit its website.
