THE Multi Arts Initiative of South Africa (MUiSA), under the dynamic leadership of Gregory Vuyani Maqoma, a multi-award winner choreographer and in partnership with D Thatanelo April, the first Tunkie Award Winner for Leadership in Dance, and Executive Director of Moving into Dance Mophatong, proudly present the 2008 Arts Alive Dance Programme.
The Arts Alive Dance Programme for the Spring month of September sizzles and scintillates with electrifying local and international dance works.
The programme includes:
- The Dance Factory's production of Romeo and Juliet, created by 2008 Standard Bank Young Artist for Dance Dada Masilo, assisted by PJ Sabbagha and Gregory Maqoma.

From Romeo and Juliet
-
From The Language
Okhela Dance Theatre's presentation of The Language , which highlights the plight of men who live with denial of their ordinary human qualities;
- the Ntsoana Contemporary Dance Theatre's Extract of X's 2 , which highlights the relationship between men and women in modern society and the relationship between them, exploring the internal struggle and loss of identity facing men in changing society; and
- Inzalo Dance Theatre's Karohano, which explores three different cultures and traditions, stories and distance they share.
- Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company/The Drishtikon Dance Foundation presenting UNCHARTED SEAS, capturing the essence of "The search for the intangible, may we call it God, truth, beauty, love or freedom, is the essence of UNCHARTED SEAS."
-
From Cows in Space
Two pieces by Zoo/Thomas Hauert, modify , with its central them of the tension between freedom and constraint;
- and Cows in Space
(re-run), which articulates the preoccupations that are at the heart of ZOO's work: the coordination of a group of moving bodies perceived as a single living organism (the cows in space) but also the exploration of infinite possibilities of movement for a human body freed from its cultural and aesthetic customs.
- Power of three ... continued, with works by Joburg's Dance Mophatong, Ballet Theatre Afrikan and the South African Ballet Theatre. Ballet Theatre Afrikan presents Joli; Moving into Dance Mophatong performs Xiif-hunger; and the South African Ballet Theatre dances a Fred Astaire Medley.
- Gauteng Dance Manyano presents The Rocks of Manyano
with the Thabisong Youth Club, Isago Theatre Production, Via Vosloorus, Mamelodi Traditional Dancers and Umbango We Sizwe.
- Siii ... Si! with the Pockemon Crew, whose artistic approach belongs to an oriental influenced way of life where the journey matters more than the destination, and it searches a choreographic semantic rooted in the authenticity of a street art transposed on stage.
