Admiral and JahseedADMIRAL & JAHSEED have been DJ'ing together since 1997. They play Dancehall Reggae music aka Ragga. Admiral DJ's the tunes (Selector) and Jah Seed chats the mike (MC) Admiral grew up in London in a SA exile family and got involved with reggae music through the Jamaican community, he was involved with a number of reggae sound systems in the UK. Jah Seed got involved with reggae growing up on the Zimbabwean club scene. The two met on Admiral's reggae show at the Voice Of Soweto radio station in 1996. At that time JahSeed was known in SA as 'Appleseed'.

In 1997 they started playing thursday nights at the famous Tandoor club in Yeoville, Jo'burg. They have played to packed crowds every week since and have just finished a 6 year residency at the Horror Cafe in Newtown Jhb. Their night has become a bone fide Jo'burg legend over the years. Together with their sound system crew they are known as African Storm and have played extensively in SA and neighboring countries.

They have co-hosted their weekly show called Raggatak on YFM since 1999. Admiral has released 2 solo albums (EMI Records) fusing Ragga with SA Kwaito music. The title track of his 1st album 'Ragga Gong' is an MC duet with JahSeed and well known amongst SA youth. Admiral reviewed movies on the SABC1 TV talk show 'The Phat Joe Show' for 4 years and was a judge on SABC1's Popstars show 2004. He recently acted in SABC3's emmy nominated comedy series 'Sorted' (2 seasons) and has just completed writing/directing his first short film 'Miss Sgodiphola' that will be screen soon on SABC1.

JahSeed is the 'ragga voice' member of the multi-platinum selling Afro-Pop group Bongomaffin. As such he's won numerous awards, including SAMA's and KORA's, and travelled to many countries across the globe performing with some of the worlds biggest artists. JahSeed is touring and promoting the latest (6th) Bongomaffin album 'New Construction'. JahSeed is also currently recording a solo album with Kalawa records.

Admiral & Jah Seed play reggae music in the classic Jamaican sound-system style involving the audience in the musical fun.

Horror Cafe has closed down. Catch the African Storm crew every thursday night at Carfax, Pim St, Newtown.
