THE French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) and the French Embassy in South Africa Present: Pockemon Crew
Choreographers: Pockemon Crew
Title: "Siii…Si!"
Synopsis
"Siii… Si! (like "Oooooh Yeeeaaahhh!!!") is an expression we use when a dancer does a great move", Brahim says.
More than a theme, the first Pockemon Crew creation aims at rooting a concept, that's why "Siii… Si!" doesn't narrate a story. Pockemon Crew advocates the essence of dance. What matters for them is "to make", and to make is to dance, and to dance… is being alive. In "Sii ii… Si!", the movement doesn't "say", it simply "is". And the choreography evokes a lucid battle with no victory because its reality and aim are the surpassing of oneself… Being confronted to obstacles, victims of accidents, and over tacking them: this is being free. Thus, Pockemon Crew artistic approach belongs to an oriental influenced way of life where the journey matters more than the destination, and it searches a choreographic semantic rooted in the authenticity of a street art transposed on stage.
