THE Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market (JFPM) and the City of Johannesburg will hold the Freshlink Conference and Expo to address the challenges facing the fresh produce industry in South Africa.

The two-day event will take place at Sandton International Convention centre on 18 and 19 November.

Kgosientso Ramokgopa, the market's chief executive, said the conference would equip role players within the fresh produce value chain with information on addressing food price increases.

"As the biggest fresh produce market on the continent, it is our responsibility to focus on the issues that influence not only the fresh produce industry, but also our national economy at large," Ramokgopa said.

Delegates from the public and private sectors, including the minister of agriculture, will present papers at the conference. Attendance costs R1 300 for the two days.

The conference will cover case studies and hold discussions on topics such as the role and importance of marketing agents, financial management, food safety and quality assurance, and crop insurance.

Producers will be able to exhibit their products and share information. For further details or bookings, contact Keneilwe Motshabi on 011 467 6268 or send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
