Zoo Lake

Several Joburg roads around Zoo Lake will be closed on 6 September 2009 for the Jazz on the Lake concert, presented by Arts Alive.

THE non-stop music extravaganza, featuring a sizzling line-up of local and international artists, will take place at the lake on Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

Due to anticipated crowds and to ensure the event runs smoothly, nearby roads will be blocked off from 6am to 8pm to form a general barricaded area.

The closed-off routes include Jan Smuts and Empire, Jan Smuts and Bolton, the M1 North Jan Smuts offramp, Warbord and Gale, Barry Hertzog and Napier, Loch and Napier, Rustenburg and Carlow, Greenside and Wicklow, Gleneagles and Geers, First Avenue West and Fifth Avenue, First Avenue West and Sixth Avenue, Seventh Avenue and Fourth, Seventh Avenue and Third, Seventh Avenue and Second, Seventh Avenue and First, Seventh Avenue and Jan Smuts, Keyes and Walters, Keyes and Hood, Keyes and Baker, Bolton and Sturdee, Bolton and Bus, Bolton and Cradock, Bolton and Oxford, Oxford and Fourteenth, Oxford and Eleventh, Oxford and Eighth, Oxford and North, Riviera and Main, Federation and Anerley, the M1 North Oxford offramp, Oxford and Victoria, St. Andrews and Albany, Jan Smuts and Bolton.

Residents living within the barricaded area will receive two access permits per household as well as a map indicating where the security controls will be applied.

Permits will be available for collection from the Zoo Lake Sports Club until 8pm on Saturday 5 September. Residents are asked to present their ID books and an electricity account when collecting their passes.

To ease traffic congestion, park-and-ride facilities will be set up at Wits University and Marks Park.
