RMB WineX features over 200 exhibitors

RMB WineX turns 10 this year, and again promises to be the premier wine exhibition in the city, featuring over 200 exhibitors.

MORE than 200 exhibitors will bring 1 200 wines to be tasted at the tenth annual RMB WineX wine festival, to be held in October.

"When we launched the show in 2000 we never envisaged that it would become a landmark feature on the South African wine calendar," said Michael Fridjhon, the WineX director. The show is hosted by Rand Merchant Bank (RMB).

This year's exhibitors will include Nederburg, Fleur du Cap, Tokara, Saronsberg, Vergelegen, and Quoin Rock. Newcomers to the festival will include Bartinney, Tamboerskloof and specialist cellar The Winery of Good Hope.

Romesco, Kloovenburg, Morgenster and The Olive Shed will be showing and selling olives, olive oils and pastes.

To help showgoers get the most out of the massive festival - and taste the widest range of wines - a comprehensive list of exhibitors is available online. The list of wines to be tasted will be available from mid-October.

They will also be able to buy wines on show through the Shop@Show facility. RMB WineX runs from 27 to 30 October at The Pavilion at the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton, from 5pm to 9pm daily.

Tickets are available at Computicket outlets, on 083 915 8000, or online, ranging from R80 for early comers, to R140 for a two-night pass and R200 for a three-night pass until 25 October. Thereafter tickets will be on sale at the door, for R90 for the first evening, R100 for Wednesday and Thursday evenings and R120 for the last evening on Friday, 30 October.

The price includes a tasting glass and unlimited tastings.

"People cannot taste all the wines in one night, so we made it convenient for them to come on different nights by giving them a discount for two and three nights," said Janice Fridjhon, one of the organisers.

There is parking available at Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square. For more information, phone 011 482 5936, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or visit the website.
