Introduction

LOCAL government is a multi-faceted and multi-functioning body. It is the grassroots of government, directly influencing the lives of its residents.

To cater for all the needs of its people the City of Johannesburg has set up a structure to:

  • deepen democracy, boosting citizen empowerment and stakeholder participation and involvement;
  • improve governance, socio-economic development and service delivery;
  • strengthen decision-making powers and accountability; and
  • ensure expeditious and efficient decision-making.
