With the separation of the executive and legislative functions, a position - the Leader of Executive Business - has been created to liaise between the two.

In the previous council, there was no separation of executive and legislative functions and processes and the mayoral committee dealt with both in preparation for council meetings where issues were discussed and decisions taken.

The Leader of Executive Business represents the executive in the council and the position is occupied by a member of the mayoral committee.
