Region F runs a social responsibility programme through the provision and maintenance of library and information services.

The libraries' core functions are:

  • Developing children's programmes;
  • Implementing literacy programmes, such as the Mphatlalatsane Literacy Centre at the Johannesburg Public Library;
  • Providing study facilities, an art and performing arts library, a multi-media library and a Cybase Centre; and
  • Satisfying the recreational, educational and information needs of the community.
