Councillor affairs department

Nkele NtinganeTHE Speaker’s Office is also responsible for supporting councillors, assessing their needs and providing support and a training strategy.

This includes ensuring training and capacity building, ensuring a skills development compliance programme, managing councillor wellness through a wellness programme and maintaining an updated database of councillor information.

Councillors have been assisted with training in various areas, ranging from computer literacy to improved language skills, learning new languages and even attaining degrees.

The Office also enforces the council’s Code of Conductand manages complaints relating to councillors as well as alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct.
