Jozikids, a recently launched website, has a list of places and people who cater for kids activities. On offer is information about where parents can take their kids for fun, with listings for theatre, camping, class outings, shopping and other activities.

Contact details and addresses are listed for various venues - it could be a toyshop in Bramley, a library in Brixton, a park in Rosettenville or a restaurant with an outdoor play area for kids in Modderfontein. You name it, with a quick click of the mouse, parents can get contact details and addresses of these places.

There is also an entertainment calendar listing children's events, such as kids' clubs meetings, what is showing in theatres and when libraries have story times. It has information for teachers on places to take their classes or shows that are relevant to their curricula.

"I think Jozikids can change the face of what Joburg has to offer families," says Merle Dieterich, the creator of the website, adding that she went out of her way to find people who do things for kids.

Parents can also rate and comment on the activities and places they have visited that they found on the website. "The reviews are designed to help people find quality for kids and encourage businesses to provide it."

Advertisers can list activities and places on the website for R60 a month. They have control over the content of their listings, can use the calendar, can have a review section on their page for customer feedback, and can have a link to their own websites.
