Pay the correct services account online
If you are paying your rates and / or services account via the internet, remember that the City of Johannesburg and Joburg Water have each been set up as bank approved beneficiaries. City Power and Pikitup have no such facilities and must be loaded as personal beneficiaries. Please ensure that you know exactly which service provider your account relates to, and ensure you pay into the correct account. When paying a City of Johannesburg account (the first two digits of this account vary, depending on your area of residence), enter ‘C' as the first letter of the name, and City of Johannesburg will be one of the options under this section. Click on it and follow the prompts to pay. When paying a Joburg Water account (your account number will be begin with 44...), enter ‘J' as the first letter of the name, and Joburg Water will be one of the options under this section. Click on it and follow the prompts to pay. City Power accounts (your account number will begin with 22...) and Pikitup accounts (your account number will begin with 33...) must be added manually to your private beneficiary list. Their bank account details are:

City Power: Standard Bank, Account number: AA45 (see deposit slip)

Pikitup: Standard Bank, Account number: AA45

Remember to enter the account numbers correctly otherwise your account will not reflect your payments!

Get Your Statements via Email
To receive your statements via email, simply log onto the City of Johannesburg's website at www.joburg.org.za and select the e-Service button. You will be asked to enter certain personal information and to choose a username and password. Then log on using your username and password. Select Account by Email and click on Register Your Email Address link. Complete the fields. Select I Agree and the Submit Form buttons. And that's it!

  • receiving your statements by e-mail
  • entering your meter readings online
  • logging and querying a problem online
  • updating your billing address online
