The City has invited unemployed
matriculants to apply for its learnership programme, being run through its
departments.

SOME 300 unemployed youth have the
opportunity to take part in a learnership programme being run by City
departments.
The City of Johannesburg, in partnership with the local
government sector education training authority, or seta, has invited interested
young people to participate.
They can choose to train in following
fields: introduction to local government; municipal finance management and
administration; local economic development; local economic development co-ordination;
Integrated Development Plan management; local government contact centre; fire
and rescue operations; environmental practice; community development worker;
transport planning; and municipal leadership development.
To be considered for the available
positions, applicants need to have passed Grade 12 and apply by Wednesday, 22
July.
Application forms should include certified
copies of the applicants' Grade 12 results, their South African identity documents
and proof of residency, for example a statement of water and lights or rates and
taxes.
The proof of residence can have a parent or
guardian's name; failing this, the applicant
needs an affidavit. Forms can be obtained from the following customer service centres:
- Region A - Diepsloot, Midrand, Ivory Park
and Rabie Ridge;
- Region B - Randburg, Claremont
and Riverlea;
- Region C - Roodepoort Civic Centre, Roodepoort City Hall,
Doornkop;
- Region D - Diepkloof, Admin Office, Jabulani Civic Centre and
Dobsonville (People Centre);
- Region E - Sandton (Sanpark building, Ground Floor, 24 Fredman Drive)
and Alexandra (8th Avenue
Customer Service Centre);
- Region F - Rosettenville, South Hills, Reuven and Crown Gardens;
- Region G - Eldorado Park, Lenasia, Ennerdale and Orange
Farm; and
- Braamfontein Metro Centre, Ground Floor, Main Entrance, opposite
the Joburg Theatre Complex.
