With a huge party on the cards on the day before the race, a new race day has to be planned.
THE annual Dragon Boat Race has been postponed, with no new date yet set.
An unofficial ANC Youth Commission Party will be held at Wemmer Pan on Saturday, 5 September, prompting Sojo, the South of Johannesburg Business and Tourism forum, to changes its plans, according to Nicky Vakaloudis, the chief executive officer of Sojo.
An annual event, the Dragon Boat Corporate Spring Festival Regatta was to take place on Sunday, 6 September at Wemmer Pan, Pioneer Park, in Rosettenville, in the south of Johannesburg.
Vakaloudis said that due to unforeseen circumstances beyond Sojo's control, it had decided to postpone the spring festival. She apologised for any inconvenience caused to anyone affected by this change of plans.
The organisers had only been informed of this with short notice in an emergency Joint Operations Committee (JOC) meeting with the City.
Future plans for the organising of the race day would be sent to all concerned.
The festival is organised by Sojo, the South of Johannesburg Business and Tourism forum, and the Golden City Dragon Boat Club.
