There are several sponsorship and voluntary programmes:
The public - individuals, companies, groups, schools - can adopt and sponsor any animal of their choice, except the lions, which are sponsored by Anglo Gold Ashanti.
Adopting an animal brings with it the satisfaction of being directly involved in nature conservation. However, the animals may not be taken home and no physical contact is allowed.

Want to be a tour guide? The zoo offers courses twice a year. Because the position is voluntary, tour guides need to be punctual and reliable. If you enjoy working with animals and people and want to get involved in a direct manner, you should consider becoming a zoo tour guide.
Tour guides can opt to work in the afternoons, over weekends or in the evening.

Adopt a school programme - Vuk’uzenzele
The power of education to encourage children to care for the environment and wildlife is a strongly held belief at the zoo, leading it to set up the schools’ sponsorship programme aimed at those schools who cannot afford to visit the zoo to see the Big Five and any of the other wonderful animals in person. Individuals and corporate organisations can sponsor a school.
