How do I get the best results from a search of the Joburg web site? Print E-mail

IN order to provide you with the best possible results, the Joburg.org.za search facility is set to search for the exact phrase that you type in as the default setting. However sometimes you may wish to expand the number of results you get or to simply browse through our extensive archives. In which case, go to our advanced search page and there you can change the setting from exact phrase to either any words or all words.

You will get the largest number of results by selecting any words, and the smallest, but most relevant, by selecting exact phrase. You can also decide how you want to results to be ordered, by age, popularity, section/category or alphabetically. The number of results is limited to 30 per page by default, but this can be changed by selecting anything from five to 50.

You can also refine you search by limiting your results to certain sections and categories. For instance if you are looking for city budgets or official documents, you may wish to select the section Key documents. Alternatively, if you are looking for entertainment listings or tourist advice, you could select Joburg guide.

News archive: Our news archive contains the latest news stories and links to the subject archives, where older stories are filed according to their main topic.

For older stories, you can search our news vault that dates back to 2001.
