Housing
Region F's mission is to create safe and secure housing for all its inhabitants, with a focus on access to habitable housing environments, supported by adequate infrastructure.
The department also aims to create an integrated housing structure for the whole community.
The following are key focus areas:
- Management of informal settlements;
- Relocation of informal settlements;
- Management of council housing stock; and
- Sale and transfer of council housing stock.
The region has a variety of housing options, catering for a wide range of individuals. For example, council-owned housing estates consisting of houses and flats are suitable for families.
Other accommodation includes hostels, senior citizens' homes and informal settlements. However, the City is to relocate the informal settlements, in line with provincial plans to do away with shacks.
