Young entrepreneurs are able to learn practical skills to run sustainable businesses from the experts during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
ASPIRING entrepreneurs are being given the opportunity to master practical skills from successful entrepreneurs during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is co-hosted by the Wits Business School’s Centre for Entrepreneurship. It is part of a worldwide event. Running from 15 to 21 November, the week-long conference is expected to help develop young people’s knowledge, skills and networks, and inspire them to grow sustainable enterprises.
It is also expected to help young people explore their potential. Now in its third year, the event will bring together students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, employees and government officials.
“The conference promises a veritable feast of top entrepreneurial minds who will be sharing their knowledge and experiences in starting new business, in hopes of inspiring ingenuity and global entrepreneurial,” says Kerrin Myers, the director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship.
Loads of events and activities have been arranged to promote and stimulate entrepreneurship.
Key speakers will include successful entrepreneurs such as the founder and chairperson of Gem Group, Lebo Gunguluza; Ernest Kekana, the founder and chief executive officer of K5 Aviation; Titus Baloyi, the chairman and chief executive officer of Bembani Group; Colette Symanowitz, the founder of MBA Connect; and the managing director of Duma Travel, Nomvula Mthombeni.
Global Entrepreneurship Week was co-founded in 2008 by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in the United States and Make your Mark, a business-led, government-backed campaign in the United Kingdom. The event has grown exponentially since then and in 2009, more than 7,5 million people took part in an estimated 32 000 events across 88 countries.
More than 10 million people in 102 countries are expected to participate this year.
