THE City of Johannesburg is dedicated to serving all its customers with the utmost integrity and professionalism. Through the Department of Revenue and Customer Relations Management (R&CRM) the City is responsible for collecting the revenues vital to the smooth functioning of Johannesburg as a world-class African city. Every month the City sends out over a million accounts to all of its residents, charging for electricity and water supplies, for waste collection, and for property taxes, more commonly known as rates.
Recently, the City launched Project Phakama aimed at streamlining and improving revenue collection. The project also aimed to ensure that customers receive accurate billings for rates and services, and also improve the quality of customer service.
