Transport for spectators - 2013 AFCON event
The City of Johannesburg wants all ticket holders to be able to reach the National Stadium safely and conveniently on 19 January and 10 February 2013.  A transport plan has been put in place with a number of public transport and park and walk options.
 
“We encourage ticket holders to plan their trip to the stadium and to leave early to avoid queues and congestion,” said Nthatisi Modingoane, City of Joburg spokesperson.
 
The following transport options are available:
 
•Catch the Rea Vaya BRT: Catch the Rea Vaya bus for R17.00 return from any Rea Vaya station or stop in Soweto and the Inner City.  All feeder and complementary routes will be serviced before and after the match; fans using feeder service will be paying R9 extra for the return journey.  Go to www.reavaya.org.za for route details.
 
•Catch a train: Metrorail will running services from Vereeniging, Naledi, Lerallo, Daveton, Katlehong, Springs, Randfontein, Pretoria, Mabopane, Mamelodi, Atteridgeville as well as Park Station and Westgate in the CBD. 
 
•Park and Ride: Drive to Constitutional Hill in Braamfontein or Westgate at the bottom end of the CBD, park your car and board a Rea Vaya bus to the stadium. Maximum travelling time is 20 minutes and the ticket per person for parking and the trip there and back is R30. The service will start operating four hours before the opening and closing ceremonies and you should be back at your car one hour after the game has ended.
 
•Park and Walk:  Drive to the Stadium and park at a number of the Park and Walks in the area.  This will cost R50 per sedan vehicle, R100 per taxi and R400 per buses.  Leave early to avoid congestion – facilities will open four hours before the opening and closing ceremony!  Prebook your parking space at Computicket to secure yourself a parking place. Marshalls will direct you to the most convenient Park and Walk.  Gates will remain open until all cars have left.
