The City of Joburg Property Company (JPC) was established as an independent company mandated by its single shareholder, the City of Johannesburg, to carry out: Property development; Alienation of the Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan Council properties; Property management services; and All ancillary services to the above. The main object of the company was defined as being "to develop and manage Council-owned properties for the purpose of maximising both social and commercial opportunities for the Council in the short and longer term".
