CCTV Surveillance Project The Integrated Intelligent Operations Command Centre operates in key areas where street crime is prevalent. Cameras are hidden in buildings overlooking strategic spots on the pavements in the CBD. About 200 CCTV cameras have been erected around the city and screens monitored in a central Control Room in Martindale. When an incident occurs the appropriate official’s emergency services or crime prevention are immediately dispatched to the location. The IIOC is run in partnership with the JMPD, South African Police (SAPS), COJ Emergency Management Services (EMS), Pikitub and Johannesburg Roads Agency Department. All the Specialized Directorates units are specialists in line with their functions, policing at ward level as well.
