Gautrain excess excavated material up for grabs

The Bombela Concession Company responsible for implementing the Gautrain project will be excavating more than two million cubic metres of material as part of the earthworks’ and tunnelling activities. This volume will be used as fill material in other areas along the alignment but there will still be some excess material.

As part of a programme of disposing the excess material, the project is calling on interested entities in the business of acquiring such material for building construction sites, road construction rehabilitation projects, dam building or any other to collect the material at no cost to them. However,
interested parties should  provide their own transport and Bombela will do the loading.

This offer is valid for the duration of the tunnelling operations which will be approximately two years.

The material is available in the following construction areas: - Rosebank, Mushroom Farm Park, Sandton, Marlboro Portal, Dunkeld Emergency Shaft 5 and Park Station.

To ensure that the process is effective, interested parties are urged to make prior arrangements for the collection. Also critical is that when on site, collectors must adhere to the safety regulations of the site.

For further information and arrangements, contact Joseph Shamir on (011) 997-8071.

To log any concerns in relation to Gautrain Construction activities, the public is also urged to use the services of the  Gautrain Call Centre on 0800 GAUTRAIN (0800 428 87246).
