2008-01-21: SA Fashion Week Winter

For the second year running Sanlam SA’s Fashion Week Winter Collections will take place at Museum Africa from 14th – 15th March.

With its mixture of African and Western heritage this is the perfect venue to show off the talents and versatility of young South African Designers.  Just as winter fashion is showing its face to South Africa this will be the place to be for an early take on what’s seriously chic for the chilly season from SA’s top designers.

Once again the names that draw in the crowds such as Abigail, Zuloe, and Lunar will show their collections at two venues within Museum Africa.
This year’s event is set to build on the success of the inaugural event in March 2007, which saw the staging of SSAFW’s first winter collection in its eleven year history. With winter being a shorter season in South Africa, designers will focus on capsule collections of strong key pieces that bear their distinct signature.

The Sanlam SA Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 08 Collections is open to the public and tickets are available from Ticket Connection at www.ticketconnection.co.za or at Ticket Connection stands. Entrance to view designer collections costs R150 per show.

The sponsors of the Sanlam SA Fashion Week Winter Collections are Sanlam, Department of Arts and Culture, Five Roses, SABC 3, 5FM, M.A.C and Redken.

Museum Africa is in the Old Market Building, 121 Bree Street in Newtown.

The stature of the Arts & Culture Fashion Seminar has grown to such an extent since its inception five year ago, that with effect from March 2008, will be run alongside the Autumn/Winter Collections annually.

The seminar will run concurrent with the Autumn/Winter 2008 Collections at Museum Africa in Newtown from 14 March 2008 but will continue for two additional days until 16 March to accommodate the practical workshop sessions.

The detailed programme is still under development but the programme will include

Great topics:

-A full spectrum of presentations aimed at providing improved business skills development, industry insight and creative inspiration from leading local, and international, industry experts.

-Open panel discussions with industry specialists and audience participation.

Practical workshops teaching an array of interesting and new techniques and skills.
