2008-03-13: Park-and-ride-service for Super 14 rugby
Rugby enthusiasts attending Saturday's Super 14 Rugby match will be transported from park-and-ride facilities in the city to the match venue.
City of Johannesburg spokesperson, Nthatisi Modingoane, has urged all rugby fans to make use of this service. "This is the safest, quickest and most convenient way to get to the match and back to your vehicle. Through this you can avoid the huge traffic jams usually associated with big matches," he says.
The City of Johannesburg's Transportation Department will provide Park & Ride services for the Super 14 Rugby Match that will be held on, Saturday 15th March 2008 at the Johannesburg Stadium, starting at 17h00.
Secure parking facilities will be available at two venues, namely Bezuidenhout Valley Park (Marcia Street) & the Wits West Campus (Enoch Sontonga Street), at a cost of R20. Transport to the Johannesburg Stadium from both Park & Ride facilities will be free of charge. The Park and Ride facilities will start operating from 13h00.
The buses and mini-buses serving the Park & Ride facilities will operate as a shuttle service. They will be available to transport people every 30 minutes. A Public Transport schedule will also be provided.
Security will be provided at all the Park and Ride sites.
So, avoid getting stuck in traffic and be wise, use the Park and Ride facilities.
