2008-08-26: City pools that won't make a splash on time
ABOUT nine swimming pools will not be opening on 1 September 2008 due to the installation of new filtration plants at a cost of R200 000 per pool.
Riverlea, Newclare, Florida Lake, Florida North, Noordgesig, Crown Gardens, Malvern, Lenasia Ext 2 and Ennerdale Ext 9 swimming pools are all scheduled to open by mid October 2008.
Ellis Park swimming pool is under construction for the All Africa Games and is expected to open by December 2008.
Another five pools will not be opening at all due to ongoing major structural repairs. These are
Murray Park, Rhodes Park, Newville, Yeoville and Southern Suburbs swimming pools.
The City apologises to residents affected by the late opening as well as the closure of swimming pools in their areas.
