The Mzansi International Culinary Festival celebrates Women’s Month with delicious food and wine experiences to suit every palate. Sponsored by the Speaker of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Council, UN WOMEN, Nandi Heritage, South Africa Women Entrepreneur Network, DANSKO shoes & Destiny Cuisine. The festival is this season’s hot tip for cool people.
DAY 1- 7 August 2014: There are 2 distinct events taking place on the first day of the Mzansi International Culinary Festival.

• Chef information day Culinary Industry Talk at the UJ School of Tourism and Hospitality open to industry professionals, lecturers, caterers and those looking to get into the food scene.

Second event: The Star Chef South Africa Competition
• A closed competition for female chef students. This event takes place at the Prue Leith School of Food and Wine, Centurion.
• The aim of the competition is to create the best South African inspired recipe. The competition is only female students- 3 will be selected through the online competition ending 21/07/2014, the entry is based on an authentic South African recipe

Three female students will be selected from the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo, Western Cape, Free State, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and/or the North West to compete on 7 August 2014 and the winner will be announced at the gala dinner on the 8 August 2014 at Mayoral Reception Hall, Metro Centre Johannesburg
