10-10-2014: Joburg mayor visits Kya Sands displaced families

Please be advised that the City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Cllr Parks Tau will today, October 10, be visiting families who were left homeless after fires erupted in the Kya Sands Informal Settlement, north of Johannesburg, yesterday.

During the visit to establish how the City can intervene in assisting the thousands displaced residents, the Mayor will be accompanied by Housing MMC Dan Bovu, Health & Social Development MMC Nonceba Molwele and Environment, Infrastructure & Services MMC Matshidiso Mfikoe.

They will thereafter also make their way to the Rugby Club Informal Settlement in Florida, west of Johannesburg, where residents were also recently displaced after a fire broke out in the area.
