Joburg's most anticipated book sale
The City of Johannesburg is serious about promoting literacy and the culture of reading.
Book lovers will be excited to know that the City’s Library and Information Services in collaboration with Friends of the Johannesburg Public Libraries will be hosting one of the City’s biggest book sales.
The book sale has become a noteworthy annual event and is widely known for its massive bargains and diverse selection of books. To make this book sale affordable to most residents of the City, thousands of second-hand books will go on sale, ranging between R10 and R20, and a number of collectables priced between R20 and R200. The book sale brings large number of people together from all over Johannesburg under one roof with one commonality which is the joy of reading books.
One of the main objectives of the book sale is to provide a positive impact on reading development and literacy at primary and high school level. The proceeds from the book sale will go towards supporting the City of Johannesburg Public Libraries reading programmes such as the Battle of the Books and Story Skirmish.
We encourage residents of Johannesburg to visit this book sale, as it caters for the diverse people of Joburg – both young and old.
