The City of Johannesburg, in collaboration with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), will tomorrow, 22 November 2018, host the eighth annual NRCS Building Control Officers’ (BCO) Convention.
Using the theme: “Transformation towards a Sustainable Built Environment”, the convention provides a platform for dynamic discussions and interaction with experts, as well as policy makers and researchers on the South African Built Environment.
The hosting of the Convention is rotated amongst municipalities on an annual basis and is attended by approximately 300 people.
Stakeholders that have been invited to the event mostly comprise of BCOs from various municipalities across the country and other stakeholders from the built environment and construction industries.
The NRCS is responsible for the administration of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act, 1977 (Act No. 103 of 1977).
The objective of the Act is to provide for the promotion of uniformity in the law relating to the erection of buildings in the areas of jurisdiction of local authorities; for the prescribing of building standards; and for matters connected therewith.
Members of the media are invited to the delivery of the keynote address by Member of the Mayoral Committee for Development Planning, Cllr Reuben Masango.
