Tomorrow, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) will launch Bellevue Park and Cavendish Park in the inner city.
The City’s new administration has committed to rejuvenate the inner city and grow the city’s economy by 5% by 2021.
To achieve this goal, it is imperative that the inner city attracts visitors and investors. The rejuvenation of parks is one of the ways this goal will be realised.
R6 million have been invested in the upgrading of both parks to ensure that the previously forgotten people of the inner city are included in the city’s green footprint.
The upgrades made to the parks are as follows:
• Bellevue Park: A pathway (1150m2), fencing, a soccer field, an outdoor gym, rubberised surface play equipment, a skateboard ramp and a running track have been added to the park. The grass area takes up approximately 4000m2.
• Cavendish Park: A pathway (650m2), grass, fencing, a stage, an outdoor gym, playground equipment, rubberised surface play equipment and a skateboard ramp have been added to the park. The grass area takes up approximately 2000m2.
In addition, the installed park benches are made of concrete for durability and ease of use.
