Tomorrow, Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba will participate in the 5th A Re Sebetseng city-wide, monthly volunteering cleaning campaign for 2018.

Mayor Mashaba will join numerous stakeholders for a clean-up in the Inner City.

The clean-up forms part of Mayor Mashaba’s support of Pikitup’s effort to clear backlogs in the Inner City after recent protest action in Alexandra, Hillbrow, Joubert Park, Doornfontein and Mayfair. Pikitup has serviced the affected areas, but had limited resources for some time. There has never been a time where Pikitup services were discontinued in the affected areas.

In SeSotho, A Re Sebetseng means “Let Us Work”, and over the course of the past nine months, residents from across the City have volunteered their time, alongside government, to clean the spaces around which they live.

Since its inception in September 2017, 11 022 events have taken place across our City, collecting 245 000 tonnes of waste.

Residents are encouraged to contact their ward councillor, contact the A Re Sebetseng hotline 087 357 1126  or visit our website https://aresebetsengjhb.wordpress.com/ to see which clean-ups are taking place nearest to them.

Details for the Mayoral clean-up are as follows:
