Joburg has urged ratepayers to pay their municipal accounts, as it will be launching a cut-off campaign “soon” to collect arrears.
RATEPAYERS are being encouraged to continue paying their municipal accounts in full to avoid services being cut off.

Kgamanyane Maphologela, Joburg’s deputy director for customer communications, said the City would be launching a cut-off campaign “soon” to collect outstanding debts.

“All account holders must ensure that their accounts are up to date to avoid being cut off. It is important to note that any account in dispute or under investigation still requires payment until the dispute is resolved.”

Maphologela said a substantial number of ratepayers was not taking advantage of the discount to settle outstanding queries. “Officials at the customer service centre are waiting to attend to the accounts in dispute that should be resolved before the cut-off campaign.”
