Power has been restored to most northern areas affected by a black out on Wednesday. However, full power is expected back tomorrow.
FOLLOWING power outages on Wednesday night in the northern suburbs of Joburg, 80 percent of electricity supply has been restored, according to the spokesperson of City Power, Sol Masolo.
Affected areas include Atholl, Wierda Valley, Illovo and Inanda. “Some of these areas were switched back at 5am.
"Power is expected to be fully restored tomorrow [9 April]. Work is in progress to restore power to the remaining sections,” said Masolo.
He attributed the power cuts to a fire at the Cynda substation, which supplies power to all five affected suburbs. “Workers laboured throughout the night to repair the damaged facility.”
The blackouts also caused traffic disruptions.
