An estimated 5000 young people in Soweto are expected to converge at Elkah Stadium on Tuesday to pray for a peaceful 2014 National Elections.
The Prayer Rally, first of its kind which is organized by the youth organisation called "New Life Ministries" is encouraging young people to come out and pray for the elections.
The Prayer Rally which is supported by the City of Joburg's Community Development is also relevant to the city's social cohesion goal.
The organization's Deputy Chairperson Thapelo Lekwakwe said his organisation is made up of diverse youth organisations from different churches around Soweto.
"We are encouraging all young people to come up and pray for the peaceful elections, because there are people who have died in order for us to vote. We are also hoping that this rally will also highlight other issues affecting our youth such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancies and satanism," said Lekwakwe.
Lekwakwe said it was up to the youth to rise up to the occasion and support the prayer rally since they are the future leaders.
