Metro bus accident
The Metro bus board of directors and its managing director Mr Mavela Dlamini wish to express their sincere condolences to the families that tragically lost their loved ones today as a result of the collision of two Metro busses.
“I was shocked upon hearing the news this morning and immediately went to the scene with some of my managers”, says Dlamini.
Continuing he says, “Words cannot express my pain at this situation and an investigation will be undertaken to determine the cause of the accident”. He also said that there was “no reason to believe” that the “mechanical condition of both busses contributed to the accident at this stage”.
Dlamini said that he was extremely perturbed by the rapid occurrence of accidents involving Metro bus drivers and reports of speeding and or using a cell phone whilst driving. He also said that the executive mayor councilor Parks Tau, Board members and himself would visit some of the 66 people that were hospitlaised.
An emergency meeting of the Board is being scheduled for later today as well as one with drivers in next week.
