​Preparations at an advanced stage for Joburg Open

With just a few days to go till the eagerly anticipated 9th edition of the renowned Joburg Open, preparations are already at an advanced stage, and the organisers promise to deliver yet another outstanding event at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Course from 26 February to 1 March 2015. 

The recent Joburg weather has helped ensure that the greens will be at their most pristine when the tournament tees off, while the country club staff are putting final touches on all fixtures to ensure that the tournament maintains its status as a prestigious tournament on the professional calendar.

“From an organisational and logistical perspective, we are very pleased with our preparations for the tournament. The various City of Joburg departments including the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, Emergency Services, Johannesburg Roads Agency, Pikitup, Johannesburg Parks and Zoo, Joburg Water, City Power, and the Joburg Market have done an excellent job in preparing the City, the surrounding areas and the golf club vicinity the for the tournament. We always work towards continually improving, and we promise to deliver another unforgettable instalment of the Joburg Open”, said Bongi Mokaba, the City of Johannesburg Director of Event Management.

“Attention has also been given to upgrading amenities for both players and spectators alike and a great job has been done in that regard. All our suppliers have committed themselves to surpassing our already demanding standards, as the City of Joburg will once again fall under the microscope of the world of professional golf”, continued Mokaba.

The Sunshine Tour and European Tour co-sanctioned event has become a “must do” tournament for professional golfers as it forms part of the prestigious Open Championship Qualifying Series. Local residents and sporting fans, who are visiting Johannesburg at the time of the tournament, are encouraged to attend the Joburg Open 2015 at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington golf clubs.

The entrance fee is R50 a day or R200 for the entire tournament. Pensioners and children under the age of 16 get free entry. Tickets can be purchased online at TicketPros 
The event will be broadcast live on SuperSport from the 26 February to 1 March 2015.
