Staycations have become increasingly popular and offer the most cost-effective and time-saving alternative. The City of Joburg has abundant recreational facilities and is offering exciting activities throughout the festive season.
With an unstable economy, and the high cost of living, a well-deserved holiday has become but a dream for many.
The City of Johannesburg’s Public Libraries will offer a range of activities for children and young people at designated libraries during the December 2018/January 2019 school holiday break. The activities are offered free of charge during library hours to both members and non-members of the libraries to ensure that even those who cannot afford a vacation, still get the best.
The MMC for Community Development, Nonhlanhla Sifumba, said residents are free to go to any of the City’s recreation facilities to enjoy the sport, swimming and arts and culture programmes, which have been designed to ensure that no one is bored over the festive season.
“I would like to encourage all residents to be safe, to take care of our facilities by not vandalizing or littering, and to take care of children, especially around our pools. I would also like to encourage residents to adhere to the City’s by-laws,” she said.
