​​City Power is experiencing power interruptions emanating from the Sebenza substation, which has affected Observatory and Bellevue areas.The power interruptions are as a result of the Commissioning and the testing of new transformers at the substation​

City Power has assured residents that it is dealing with power interruptions in the affected areas and is in the process of commissioning the Sebenza substation. This process is expected to continue until November this year. The entity has explained that this is done mainly to increase reliability of the electricity supply, increase network capacity, strengthen the electricity network and ultimately reduce power interruptions.

City Power has committed to doing most of the commissioning work after working hours to reduce the impact of power interruptions on customers. Currently Sebenza, Mulbarton and Wemmer substations are restored however the following areas supplied by Observatory and Bellevue are still off:​ Observatory North,  Cyrildene Central and North,  Kensington Ext 5,  Bez Valley East,  Bez Valley North and South,  Bruma,  Dewetshof, Langemann Drive, Kitchener Avenue, Kensington Clinic, Roberts Avenue, Yeoville East, Bellevue East and North, Houghton West, Judith and Gerald, Natal Street, Grafton and South and North, Pope Street.
