On Monday, 3 December, the Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba joined Africrest Properties to open The Village and Spark School development in Bramley.
This event saw the City of Johannesburg supporting and encouraging private sector development, especially that of affordable housing.
The derelict and run down 30 000m² property in Bramley was developed with eager input from the City’s Development Planning Department.
The City saw a great opportunity to have input on the layout and design of the development to ensure a more responsible and responsive end product that strikes balance between the pressure of the area-based transformation and existing communities.
The City said it is pleased to see the call for investment in Johannesburg answered by developers that also believe in our vision for a more inclusive Johannesburg.
Phase 1 of the project, which is now officially opened, includes a full Spark School and 200 affordable apartments.
