As part of Transport Month, the City of Johannesburg’s Transport Department, Sci-Bono Discovery Centre and various stakeholders will host a career expo for 2 000 learners from 22 to 26 October 2018.
The week-long expo, celebrated under the theme: “Transport and the environment- towards a greener transport industry” will promote green mobility and raise awareness on road safety as well as the increased need for a greener transport industry and the impact of our transport industry on the environment.
Through a comprehensive and interactive programme of activities, learners will be exposed to public transport, roads infrastructure, non-motorised transport, sustainable and innovative transport solutions in Gauteng.
The learners, who are from 11 previously disadvantaged schools in Gauteng, will be exposed to career and bursary opportunities that exist within the transport industry.
Sci-Bono has collaborated with 11 companies in the transport industry who will exhibit and present talks to learners. Sci-Bono staff will also be performing a number of science, technology, engineering and maths-related hands-on activities to encourage learners in a fun and educational way.
The programme will run from 9am to 1pm daily.
