Get to the Festival of Motoring and smell the petrol as the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit hosts a range of motoring thrills, including the latest vehicle models, opportunities for test-drives, a 4x4 track, incredible food and a pulsating motor-show appealing to the whole family.
From Thursday, 22 until Sunday, 25 August the tranquillity of northern Joburg will be completely whacked by the ferocious whine of powerful engines and the burnt smoke of screeching tires, when vehicles of all sorts perform intricate tricks and precision stunts at the fourth annual Festival of Motoring.
The City of Johannesburg supports the festival of motoring because it’s a boon for local economic growth and tourism.
The festival will be jam-packed with a dazzling display of new models of exciting cars, including modern supercars, GT race cars, historic race cars and a large variety of V8 muscle cars to excite motoring enthusiasts. The Mobile 1 V8 race series will also be participating in two races over the weekend.
The show will also feature the latest technical innovations, an interactive platform showcasing the latest automotive technology and a special collection of supercars. Leading industry-related after market and accessory companies will also exhibit at the event.
“Smell, feel, touch and experience all the leading vehicle manufactures with this unique and interactive event,” says Chris de Kock, the CEO of vehicle financer, and sponsors of the event, WesBank.
Visitors to the Festival of Motoring will enjoy four exciting days of motorsport, track time, self-drives and a variety of automotive manufacturers. Organisers say the festival will be the biggest motoring extravaganza in South Africa.
“The Festival of Motoring brings the entire industry together and allows visitors to not only view or compare the latest models, but to jump in and experience the performance and handling of these vehicles on the track,” says De Kock.
Highlights of the show will include visitors driving various models on the dedicated Kyalami Handling Track or be professionally driven around the world-class Grand Prix Circuit. The live motoring performance will feature thrills and spills of car stunts and special effects.
Organisers expect the festival to attract thousands of petrol-heads keen to see the vehicles on display, and take part in this celebration of all things motoring.
The Festival of Motoring opens at 9am until 6pm on Thursday, 22 August. The show will run from 8am until 8pm on Friday, 23 and Saturday, 24 August. It will close at 6pm on its last day, Sunday, 25 August. Tickets for the Festival of Motoring are officially available at https://festivalofmotoring.howler.co.za/organisers/4998
