Three newly built City parks have scooped six merit awards at the annual South African Landscape Institute (SALI) Awards of Excellence.

Katjiepiering Park, Leeubekkie Park and Cosmo Circle Park in Jan Hoffmeyer, near Brixton, won the awards in two categories, including Specialised Landscape Construction and Landscape Construction.

MMC for Community Development, Nonhlanhla Sifumba was ecstatic at the news.

“Congrats Jozi. Three of our newest parks have received six awards from the South African Landscape Institute (SALI) at the annual awards of excellence,” she tweeted, using the hashtag: #WelcomeOutside.

The awards were announced recently.

Formed in 1984, the South African Landscapers Institute is a national body of landscape contractors and suppliers. SALI consists of a vast network of members throughout the country.

The institute aims to improve the standard of landscaping in South Africa by adhering to minimum specifications to ensure clients get increased value for money.
