The Executive Mayor Cllr Herman Mashaba recently met 12-year-old Stacey Fru, who has published three books by the age of 11.
Fru recently won an Arab and African Youth Platform Award in Egypt for being one of five most promising African youths.
On meeting the Executive Mayor, Stacey revealed that she plans on published two more books by July 2019.
Her books focus on educating young African children, on safety issues like kidnapping. She writes with the view of capturing the attention of young children, understanding full well what works and what does not.
Fru also encourages her peers to start looking up to other African figures for inspiration, and not necessarily only to the West.
Mayor Mashaba said he was honoured to have met Stacey, a fellow-author.
“This is the future I am trying to protect,” he said.
