The Public Safety Department is disinfecting the Roodepoort and Dube Licensing Centres after two confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Both centres have been closed until Sunday, 5 July 2020 to make way for deep cleaning.

The affected employees have since gone into self-isolation until full recovery and those they were in direct contact with have been advised to monitor the symptoms and undergo testing during quarantine.

The department is concerned that it has had to close four licensing centres intermittently since their gradual reopening at the beginning of June, says Mally Mokoena, the MMC for Public Safety.

“The number of confirmed cases at our licensing centres is slowly growing and while this is concerning, I wish to encourage all employees, especially those at the affected centres to remain calm during this challenging period," Mokoena adds.

She's urged City staff to strictly observe and practice hygiene and safety protocols in ensuring that the virus is managed, curbed and prevented from further spread.

“We wish both employees well on their road to recovery
