The atmosphere inside Ellis Park Arena reached another exciting milestone on Day 6 of the Telkom Netball League on 27 May 2026 as athletes, supporters, officials and journalists gathered under one roof in a facility widely praised for its world-class infrastructure and athlete-friendly environment. The Telkom Netball League, in partnership with City of Johannesburg's Sport and Recreation, continues to drive the development of the sport while using top-tier facilities such as Ellis Park Arena to promote excellence, inclusion and community participation.
With a seating capacity ranging between 5 000 and 6 300 depending on the event configuration, the indoor arena has provided a safe, spacious and professionally structured environment for players and spectators.
It offers secure parking for supporters and team transport, designated emergency access for ambulances and police vehicles, spacious media setup areas for broadcasters such as SuperSport TV, as well as luxurious VIP and VVIP hospitality suites.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development Cllr Thapelo Amad praised the venue for continuing to raise the standard of sporting infrastructure in the City of Johannesburg.
“This is one of the best facilities capable of hosting prestigious sporting events such as the Telkom Netball League. Ellis Park Arena provides a professional environment for athletes, spectators, broadcasters and stakeholders. Facilities like these are important in developing sport and giving young people access to opportunities," said the MMC.
Coaches participating in the tournament highlighted the positive impact the facility has on player development and exposure. They also called for more training courts to further support the growing number of teams.
Zimbabwean player Nicole Muzanenamo described the experience as inspiring for young women in sport. “Playing here feels comfortable because it is safe and professional. It shows that netball is growing in Africa and gives the girl child an opportunity to dream bigger."
As the tournament progresses towards its conclusion on Sunday, 31 May 2026, Ellis Park Arena continues to stand as a symbol of sporting excellence, youth development and community upliftment through quality infrastructure.
