Joburg Tourism is inviting residents and visitors to experience the energy, creativity and diversity of Johannesburg at 947 Joburg Day on Saturday, 5 September at Crocodile Creek Polo Club. As the city welcomes spring and South Africa celebrates Heritage Month and Tourism Month, Joburg Tourism will showcase the experiences, attractions, culture and entrepreneurial spirit that make Johannesburg one of Africa's most exciting destinations.
Visitors to the Joburg Tourism stand can enjoy an interactive experience featuring eight local arts and crafts SMMEs, showcasing and selling locally made products. A Spin & Win competition will offer prizes throughout the day, while the Mobile Visitor Information Centre will provide information on attractions, events, restaurants, accommodation and seasonal activities across the city.

Gauteng Lions cricketers will also make special appearances, giving fans an opportunity to meet the players, take photographs and create memorable social media moments. Belu Mabandla, Executive Head: Destination Marketing and Events at Joburg Tourism, said spring was the perfect time to rediscover the city.
“Heritage and Tourism Month give us an opportunity to celebrate our people, stories and diverse cultural identity, while supporting local businesses and encouraging residents to become ambassadors for their city," said Mabandla.
As World Tourism Day is marked on 27 September under the theme 'Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism', Joburg Tourism is also highlighting the role of technology in helping visitors discover and navigate the city.
“AI may be your exploration partner, but Joburg is your fulfilment partner," said Mabandla. “We invite residents and visitors to tick their bucket lists in Africa's playground and discover why there is always more to explore and experience in Johannesburg."
